Your trips, lists, scanned prices, and categories are stored in a local database on your device. There is no account or sign-in, and nothing syncs to the cloud. merca does not have a backend server, and your shopping data is never transmitted anywhere.

Reading a price tag (OCR), parsing what you type or say, and answering questions in Ask all run entirely on-device. Voice input uses on-device speech recognition only — if on-device recognition isn't available on your device or for your language, voice input is not used, and you're asked to type instead. No voice audio is ever sent to a server for processing.

merca doesn't run analytics or tracking, and doesn't collect or share your data with anyone, including third parties. merca contains no advertising and no third-party SDKs that collect data from this app.

merca requests the following device permissions, used only for the stated purpose:

• →Camera: to scan price tags using on-device text recognition.
• →Microphone and Speech Recognition: to support optional voice input, processed entirely on-device.
• →Photo Library: to let you select an existing photo of a price tag instead of using the camera.
• →Notifications: to remind you about recurring items, your monthly recap, and budget check-ins. These are scheduled locally on your device and are never sent from a server.

Resetting your data from Settings, or deleting the app, removes everything permanently. There is no copy of your data anywhere else to delete, because none is ever created.

merca is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, since it does not collect information at all.

If this policy changes, an updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
